I always had an interest in High Tension Power Lines when I was younger and still do to this day. As I have said in an earlier post, I had nightmares of the High Tension Power lines turning towards me, laughing at me, then attacking me. I even had a nightmare about a High Tension Power Line in the distance at night. I was 4 years old when this nightmare occurred. In the background was the sound of a loud roaring train. When the noise reached it's loudest point, I woke up and stood in the kitchen during the middle of the night. I stared at a closed box of Frosted Flakes on my counter, stunned at my dream.
Moving the clock forward, I found out last week that my 12 year old Autistic Mentee, loves High Tension Power Lines as well. I couldn't believe it. I found out because I had a picture of a pair of High Tension Power Lines as my profile picture on facebook. Those pictures were taken because I actually did High Tension Power Lines as a subject for my Reporting Multi-Media Project. His Mother is my facebook friend and she told me that he can't stop looking at it. When he's riding in the car, he loves to look at them on the highways.
I was amazed when I found that out. Autistic people usually have interests that are unusual. The fact that my mentee and I are interested in the same unususal object made me feel honored.
